The Operating Room of Liaocheng People's Hospital is the key specialty of medical and health in Shandong Province, and the affiliated unit of Liaocheng Operating Room Professional Quality Control Center. There are 52 nurses, including 2 chief nurses, 6 deputy chief nurses, 17 chief nurses and 3 master students. There are 1 vice-chairman of Shandong Provincial Committee on Training and Management of Disinfection and Supply Personnel, 1 vice-chairman of Nursing Branch of Shandong Geriatric Medical Research Association, and 1 member of Sleep Disorder Professional Committee of Shandong Geriatric Medical Research Association.

    The department is equipped with 17 internationally leading laminar flow operating rooms and one compound operating room, with an annual operation volume of more than 20,000 cases. Six major groups were divided: orthopaedic surgery group, cardiothoracic surgery group, hepatobiliary vascular surgery group, gastrointestinal surgery group, urinary gland surgery group and oral pediatric surgery group, which greatly improved the cooperation level of specialized surgery. It has the most advanced angiograph, mobile C-arm, operation navigation system, holmium laser, thulium laser, angioscope, operating table, shadowless lamp, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, electrotomy, arthroscope, intervertebral foramen mirror, microscope, electrosurgical energy platform, argon knife, digital ultrasound cutting haemostat, ultrasound treatment and so on, for all kinds of operation development provides a powerful hardware support.

    In cooperation with the clinical practice, the first operation in shandong province was successfully carried out: dual-donor living liver transplantation, pediatric liver transplantation, cardiopulmonary combined transplantation, thoracoscopic orthopedics for congenital heart disease, and thoracoscopic valve replacement. New technologies and projects have been carried out such as shoulder joint replacement, mandibular resection with vascular rib muscle flap transplantation, laparoscopic radical gastrectomy and colon cancer, knee joint replacement, shoulder joint replacement, intervertebral foramen microsurgery, thoracolumbar spine surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, aneurysm resection and artificial vascular replacement. In 2013, China's advanced composite interoperative room was put into use, and various minimally invasive interventional surgeries, such as abdominal aortic stent implantation, intracranial aneurysm embolization, endovascular balloon dilation stent implantation, and congenital heart disease occlusion, were successfully carried out, thus improving the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment level.  

    The information management system of operating room has been developed, which realizes the information management in the aspects of patient management, material management, specimen management, operation reservation arrangement, electronic management of doctor's advice and operation process management, improves work efficiency and quality, and effectively guarantees the safety of operation patients.

    35 patents have been published at home and abroad. Among them, 2 awards have been awarded in the First National Operating Room Nursing Innovation and Invention Competition. It undertakes 21 scientific research projects, including 1 second-class award for outstanding achievements in Soft Science in Shandong Province, 1 third-class award for academic innovation in Natural Science in Shandong Province, 1 third-class award for medical science and technology in Shandong Province, 3 second-class awards for scientific and technological progress in Liaocheng City, 2 second-class awards for outstanding achievements in scientific research in Taishan Medical College and 5 third-class awards for scientific and technological progress in Liaocheng City. Every year, Liaocheng Operating Room Quality Control Center is organized to undertake two projects of Liaocheng Continuing Education. As a training base for specialist nurses in operating rooms in Shandong Province, there are 28 trainees and refresher students in the training base.

    In recent years, the operating room has been awarded many honorary titles such as provincial "three good and one satisfaction" demonstration post, municipal "learning type" organizational model unit, "high-quality nursing demonstration department", "advanced collective for prevention and control of hospital infection", "benchmark department for safe blood transfusion quality", etc.
