The Department of Gastroenterology of Liaocheng People's Hospital is the key specialty of Shandong Province, the National Clinical Drug Test Base, the Liaocheng Base of Beijing Digestive Diseases, the Collaborative Network Center for Early Gastric Cancer Screening and Research of the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, and the Liaocheng Consultation Center of the China Inflammatory Bowel Disease

    Digestive medicine is one of the earliest three-level disciplines in the hospital, including outpatient clinic, ward, digestive endoscopy room and gastrointestinal motility room. The ward consists of 13B and 14B wards with 63 approved beds and 32 physicians, including 5 chief physicians, 7 deputy chief physicians and 2 doctoral postgraduates; the established sub-specialties include portal hypertension, early gastrointestinal cancer, biliary and pancreatic diseases and gastrointestinal motility, with an annual total of more than 7,000 discharges; the annual outpatient service volume of digestive medicine exceeds 70,000. and four sub-professional outpatient services such as Gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, helicobacter pylori standardized diagnosis and treatment, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases will be established. More than 24,000 endoscopic examinations are performed annually, including more than 12,000 painless endoscopic examinations annually, and more than 1,600 endoscopic surgical treatments (polypectomy, foreign body removal, endoscopic hemostasis, ESD, ERCP, esophageal varicose vein ligation, etc.).

    The department attaches great importance to the development of medical technology. In recent years, the department has successively carried out a number of diagnosis and treatment technologies, including esophageal varicose vein ligation, retrograde cholangiopanthography, endoscopic mucosal resection, endoscopic submucosal dissection, POEM, STER, EFR, ultrasonic endoscopic diagnosis and treatment, and microenteroscopy.

    The department undertakes the teaching task of internal medicine (digestion) of clinical medicine major and stomatology major of Taishan Medical College, and has undertaken the teaching of internal medicine (digestion) in College of Stomatology, Liaocheng University Since 2016. The department of gastroenterology is the postgraduate training center of Taishan Medical College and the postgraduate training center of Qingdao University Medical College.

    The Department of digestive medicine pays attention to personnel training and encourages and supports young and middle-aged physicians to pursue doctoral or in-service doctoral degrees. There are currently two full-time doctoral postgraduates, three in-service doctoral postgraduates and four studying for in-service doctoral postgraduates. Each year, 1-2 attending physicians are sent to Beijing Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Shao Yifu Hospital and Xijing Hospital for further study. Five people went to Linz Hospital in Austria, Central Hospital in Singapore, Christian Hospital of Yuanzhou Medical College of Yonsei University in Korea, Shizuoka Cancer Treatment Center in Japan and AK ALTONA Hospital in Germany for further study.

    Departments actively carry out scientific research, and have won many provincial and Municipal Research projects, including one from Shandong Natural Science Foundation. It has also won many provincial and municipal prizes for scientific and technological progress, including two prizes for scientific and technological progress in Shandong Province. A total of more than 10 academic monographs and more than 100 papers were published, of which more than 20 were included in SCI. Two patents were granted, including one invention patent.

    The Department maintained close academic exchanges with Beijing Friendship Hospital, Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Sciences and other domestic hospitals, and carried out substantive cooperation. The " Water City Digestion Forum" organized by the Department has become a well-known brand of the digestion Specialty Conference in Shandong Province.
